Zuckerberg Predicts That All Meta Products Will Soon Use Generative AI

Meta will establish a new product division within the corporation that will be focused on generative artificial intelligence. generative AI is a new set of machine learning algorithms that enable computers to write text, draw drawings, and create other forms of media that mimic human output.

This move comes at a time when large tech corporations and well-capitalized startups alike are racing to boast improvements in machine learning techniques and incorporate artificial intelligence models into their products.

In a statement on Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, said that the new entity will integrate many of the company’s existing departments. Chris Cox, who is currently serving in the role of Chief Product Officer, will take over organizational duties for the newly formed team.

According to Zuckerberg, the group is going to develop “creative and expressive” technologies that will be included in Meta’s products.

“We’re exploring experiences with text (like chat in WhatsApp and Messenger), with images (like creative Instagram filters and ad formats), and with video and multi-modal experiences,” Zuckerberg stated.“We have a lot of foundational work to do before getting to the really futuristic experiences, but I’m excited about all of the new things we’ll build along the way.”

For instance, huge language models developed by OpenAI have been included in a chatbot developed by Microsoft Bing as well as a distinct chatbot referred to as ChatGPT. Bard, a chatbot designed by Google, is currently under development.

On Monday, Snap made the announcement that it will add a ChatGPT bot to its Snapchat app.

The previous week saw the announcement of Meta’s very own big language model, which goes by the name LLaMA.

At the time, Meta asserted that its models are distinct from those of its competitors due to the fact that they are made available to researchers and that their usage is both more convenient and less costly than that of bigger models.

But the declaration was also a signal that Meta, which undertakes a large amount of research into artificial intelligence, was not going to allow competitors to pass it by in the battle to win the AI race.
