Raijintek Morpheus 8069 GPU Cooler

The next Raijintek Morpheus 8069 fanless cooler for high-end graphics cards has been previewed in new photographs on FanlessTech. The Radeon RX 6700/RX 6800/RX 6900 series from AMD, the GeForce RTX 3080/3090 series from Nvidia and the GeForce RTX 4090 series from Nvidia are all supported.

The Raijintek Morpheus 8069 is capable of dissipating up to 360W passively (with good and correctly regulated airflows inside the chassis) and even more with the addition of a few fans.

Even at their maximum clock speeds, the latest and greatest graphics cards like AMD’s Radeon RX 6900 XT and Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3090 Ti only need to be cooled to their operating temperatures by 360W. When using the most powerful GeForce RTX 4090, however, two additional 120-mm fans will be required for optimal cooling.

The new Morpheus 8069 from Raijintek is quite similar to the 8057 in appearance. In order to work with modern graphics cards, however, it employs a unique mounting technique. A nickel-plated copper base, twelve six-millimeter heat pipes, and one hundred and nine aluminum fins make up the cooling system.

Without the 120 mm coolers, it weighs 515 g, but with two of Raijintek’s 120 mm fans (at 100 g each unit), the total weight is closer to 715 g. This is lighter than the majority of aftermarket coolers designed for modern high-end graphics cards but still heavier than the OEM coolers.

For reference AMD Radeon RX 6700/6800/6900 and Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080/3090/4090 graphics boards, the Morpheus 8069 package will feature copper heatsinks for voltage regulating modules in addition to the cooler, thermal pads, screws, washers, mounting frames, and fan brackets.

At the same time, pictures (in the gallery below the post) showing a backplate with a different brand name than that of manufacturer Raijintek suggest that the manufacturer may not supply one.

Raijintek Morpheus 8069 GPU Cooler

Raijintek was originally among the businesses that concentrated on passive (without fans) cooling systems. Nonetheless, as CPUs and GPUs have become more power-hungry and heat-exhausting in recent years, the firm has augmented its product range to include conventional air coolers and all-in-one liquid cooling systems. Still, Morpheus 8069 is a great illustration of how Raijintek hasn’t forgotten its origins.

It is unclear if the Morpheus 8069 will be able to passively cool Nvidia’s future GeForce RTX 4080 or AMD’s next Radeon RX 7000-series boards, but at least it can be utilized with current-generation graphics boards. An attractive feature is the GeForce RTX 3090’s relative silence.

On November 1, Raijintek will unveil the Morpheus 8069 to the public. The next passive cooler for current graphics cards has yet to be released with a price tag, although its predecessor (compatible with AMD’s Radeon RX 5000 and Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 2000-series) can be purchased on Amazon for $105 at present (opens in new tab)
