Monster Hunter Rise on PS4 and Xbox

Monster Hunter Rise has finally been announced on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S after weeks of speculation. Players who have been waiting for a new installment in the series won’t have to wait much longer, as the game is scheduled to be released on all platforms on January 20.

That’s over two years after the PC release and one year after the Switch version came out. The Sunbreak add-on has also been confirmed for these systems, albeit it won’t be released until spring.

The news was made alongside the release of a brand new trailer for Monster Hunter Rise, which you can see in the Tweet attached below.

Monster Hunter Rise will be released on all Xbox platforms and Xbox Game Pass on the same day. The Game Pass release is great for people who have never tried the franchise before because it allows them to do so without having to shell out the full price for the service.

The game will only allow players to connect with others on the same platform since Capcom has announced that cross-play and cross-saves would not be available. Although this is sad, at least there will be plenty of people to play Monster Hunter Rise with on Xbox thanks to Game Pass.

Since its release, Monster Hunter: Rise has been an enormous financial success for Capcom. Capcom said in August that over 11 million copies of the game and over 4 million of the Sunbreak expansion had been sold. Since the game has been so well received on the Switch and PC, it seems to reason that Capcom would want to make it available to a wider audience.
