Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 XP Double for PS3 Users: PlayStation gamers will get the first opportunity to participate in Activision’s double XP event for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0.
PlayStation players may start earning double XP as of right now, but Xbox gamers will have to wait until December 1 to reap the benefits. In all platforms, the double XP offer ends on December 2. In the absence of context, it is unclear if this refers to the usual double XP bonus, double weapon XP, or both.
Playing Call of Duty on PlayStation comes with a number of bonuses, including early access to double XP times.
Players on PlayStation who own a copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 were granted early access to the game’s beta, while those who buy the game’s battle pass are rewarded with two more loadout slots, seasonal Combat Packs containing unique equipment, and access to higher tiers. Partying up on the PlayStation nets you an extra 25% weapon experience.
Sony now compensates Activision for special treatment of the Call of Duty franchise, although this arrangement is not guaranteed to last indefinitely. Microsoft is now in merger talks to buy Activision Blizzard and its many subsidiaries and brands, including the popular shooter series Call of Duty.
Microsoft has stated that, should its takeover attempt succeed, it will continue to release Call of Duty games for PlayStation; nevertheless, it is unclear what the future of Call of Duty on PlayStation may look like should the transaction close.
It was recently speculated that Microsoft would give a concession to authorities in the shape of a 10-year license arrangement to Sony to assist push the merger over the line.
