Horizon Zero Dawn Remake Rumored to Be in Development, but Not at Guerrilla Games

Horizon Zero Dawn Remake Rumored to Be in Development, but Not at Guerrilla Games: The news was discovered by ComicBook and comes courtesy of industry insider Colin Moriarty, who revealed in the latest edition of his Sacred Symbols podcast (paywalled on Patreon) that Guerrilla Games is not working on the Horizon Zero Dawn PS5 version.

Colin said that he had heard the game is at another team but did not disclose the company taking on the remake version. “We’re also presuming that [Guerrilla] is doing the Horizon remake thing there,” said the developer, “but if it’s genuine, what I’ve heard is that it’s at another team.”

Players should, of course, take this claim with a grain of salt until Sony confirms the existence of a PS5 version of Horizon: Zero Dawn and the developers working on it.

It was initially speculated that a PlayStation 5 port of the remake or remastered version of the game will be released in October 2022. Although details are few at the moment, the latest rumor says another PlayStation studio is working on the project.

Given that Guerilla Games is hard at work on a massive expansion for Burning Shores and is also co-developing Horizon: Call of the Mountain for PSVR 2, it’s not unexpected that they won’t be participating in the transfer.

The PlayStation 5 version of Horizon: Zero Dawn is rumored to have better visuals than the PS4 version, making better use of the console’s hardware.

It sounds like it will have a lot of new features and better-looking character models than the previous game while keeping the same core gameplay.

In conclusion, the reported PS5 version will have updated graphics and enhanced animations to bring it in line with the sequel.

Another piece of Horizon-related news is that Guerrilla Games is hard at work on an expansion called Burning Shores, which will launch on April 19, 2023, but exclusively for PlayStation 5 gamers. Players will be transported closer to Sin City, where they may face off against the Horus Titan.
