Check out what’s coming to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on December 14th!

Patch notes for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s imminent next-gen update were released by developer CD Projekt RED in advance of the game’s December 14 release.

The patch notes provide a wealth of details regarding the game’s special features, which are reserved for console and PC releases.

Next-gen update gamers may look forward to ray-traced global lighting and ambient occlusion, as well as a wide variety of modifications and mod-inspired content designed to enhance the game’s aesthetics on PC. Some examples of user-generated additions are:

All of the character textures, including Geralt, Yennefer, Triss, Ciri, Eredin, and more, have been upgraded to 4K resolution. In addition to the new picture mode, The Witcher 3 now also works with AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 2.1.

The ULTRA+ visual mode is specific to PC gamers and includes features such as: “significantly increases the visual fidelity of the game.” But unless you have a good machine that can handle the visual output, don’t get your hopes up and give it a try. In addition, those with NVIDIA graphics cards may take use of DLSS 3 functionality.

The Witcher 3’s next-gen update will include a Ray Tracing and Performance mode for Xbox One X|S and PlayStation 5 players. Both will support dynamic resolution scaling, however, the former will aim for 30 FPS with ray-traced global lighting and ambient occlusion, while the latter will provide 60 FPS.

However, ray tracing won’t help Xbox Series S users in any way. Instead, a Quality setting with”increased resolution and better image fidelity” at 30 FPS. Additionally, the DualSense controllers for the PlayStation 5 will have adjustable triggers and haptic feedback, providing players with a more immersive gaming experience.
