Biden’s Immigration Plan Blocked by Federal Judge in Florida

On Friday, the press secretary for the White House, Karine Jean-Pierre, announced that the administration of Vice President Joe Biden will challenge the verdict of a federal court in Florida which has at least temporarily halted the implementation of a new immigration policy.

Late on Thursday, United States District Judge T. Kent Wetherell concurred with Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody and issued a temporary restraining order against the program. The judge stated that the policy violated federal law and issued the order as a result.

This week, the administration of Vice President Joe Biden published the policy in an effort to help deal with the anticipated increase in the number of migrants entering the country as a result of the expiration of a public-health directive known as a Title 42 order on Thursday.

It was anticipated that the new policy, which the federal government referred to as “parole with conditions,” would result in a significant increase in the number of migrants who were allowed to enter the United States.

“The claims that CBP (U.S. Customs and Border Protection) is allowing or encouraging the mass release of migrants … is just categorically false,” During a briefing with the press, Jean-Pierre made the following statement.

“That is not what’s occurring. That is not what’s happening. And it is a harmful ruling, and the Department of Justice is going to fight it. That’s what we’re going to see. And we’re going to continue to use every tool that we have to make sure that we are dealing with this issue in a humane and orderly way.”

Moody and Governor Ron DeSantis have, for a long time, voiced their disagreement with the federal government’s border policy and said that the presence of undocumented immigrants in Florida drives up the cost of providing essential services such as education, health care, and security.

According to a transcript of Jean-Pierre’s press briefing on Friday, he accused Republican elected officials of engaging in “political stunts” and declared that he would not tolerate it.“They don’t want to solve this problem. They want to use it, again, as a campaign tool for them.”
