Besides RE1 Remake! Do You Believe RE1 Should Be Remade in RE Engine?

Do You Believe RE1 Should Be Remade in RE Engine?: Chris and Jill’s original run-in with the zombie hordes may have been groundbreaking at the time, but by today’s standards, it’s definitely rough around the edges.

Since Capcom has already rebuilt Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4, players of the original game are probably wondering if it will also be redone (again) with all the technological prowess that is currently accessible.

Although Capcom has remained mum on the matter thus far, owing to the efforts of some very skilled Resident Evil fans, we can imagine what a remake in the current day may look like.

This remake, built with Unreal Engine 5, is called Biohazard: RE1 Classic Edition. If you played the original, you’ll recognize some of the sequences in the teaser, which will bring back both nostalgic and terrifying memories.

The team’s initial exploration of the Spencer Mansion is recreated with gorgeous graphics and outstanding lighting effects, as is the famed sequence in which the game’s first zombie slowly spins his head toward the camera, revealing bloodstained lips and icy, dead eyes.

The gameplay is faithful to the original, with tank controls and fixed camera angles instead of the over-the-shoulder view that Capcom used in their recent remakes. There’s no word on when it’ll be out, but it’s got us excited for a second chance at Resident Evil. Let’s also cross our fingers that Capcom listens to its loyal customer base and begins developing an official remake of the game that pioneered the survival horror genre.

The fan-made recreation of the first Code Veronica, another early Resident Evil game, was released in video form earlier this year. This early footage was modeled around the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3, therefore it had environments and foes from the original 2000 game. The revamp, which is rather radical, is expected to go live this year.
