McCarthy: “Adam Schiff will no longer be on the Intel Committee when I become Speaker”: On Sunday, Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), the incoming House Minority Leader, reaffirmed his pledge to boot Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) from the House Intelligence Committee if he is elected Speaker.
“Another change you’re going to get: Adam Schiff will no longer be on the Intel Committee when I become Speaker. I promised that more than two years ago,” McCarthy told “Sunday Morning Futures” Talk show host Maria Bartiromo of Fox News.
The minority leader, who just last month won the nomination for Speaker of the House from the Republican Conference, has vowed to remove Schiff from his position because he believes the Democrats have too much power in the Intelligence Committee.

“[Democrats] also used the intel community as well to lie to the American public. Should those people keep their clearances? Should those people still be allowed to have information? If they’re going to be political individuals, then, no, they should not. And this is just the tip of the iceberg of what we need to investigate going forward,” McCarthy declared.
At the same time, the Republican praised Twitter’s controversial new CEO Elon Musk for releasing what are claimed to be internal Twitter emails regarding the social media platform’s handling of a New York Post article about President Biden’s son Hunter Biden.
“What Elon Musk has been able to do, now we know why the White House wanted to fight so strongly against him owning Twitter. All he’s done is put out the truth. Now we need to start looking at Facebook, at Google. These now have become arms of the Democratic Party, arms of the Biden administration,” McCarthy declared.
McCarthy has also stated that if he is elected Speaker, he will remove Democratic Representatives Eric Swalwell of California and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota from their committee assignments.
Last week, Schiff responded to McCarthy’s criticisms, accusing McCarthy of pandering to party radicals in order to get the support he needs to assume the leadership role in the 116th Congress.
