A Face-Off to Determine the Best PlayStation Character

Best PlayStation Character: PlayStation has won the hearts and minds of millions of gamers across the world since the launch of the first machine in Japan in 1994. The storylines and personalities in them have been crucial to its popularity, alongside the game’s world-class gameplay and state-of-the-art visuals.

But there have been so many personalities that picking the best of the greatest might be difficult. We needed your input to settle this issue once and for all, so thank you very much for giving it to us.

Cloud Strife vs. Solid Snake and Nathan Drake vs. Aloy are just two of the hundreds of matches that you fought over to become the ultimate PlayStation character. Exactly who came out on top, if anyone? Prepare yourselves for a big announcement…

WOW, that’s a tough decision. Once again, Kratos has triumphed over all comers to earn the Platinum Trophy, this time with a victory percentage worthy of the gods at 89.4 percent. God of War Ragnarok’s main protagonist is a veteran of 47,099 combat, winning 42,088 of them. He made his PlayStation 2 debut in 2005.

The release of God of War: Ragnarok may have improved Kratos’ odds of winning, but there’s no denying that he’s a famous figure who’s seen some of the most remarkable character development witnessed in or out of a video game.

The emotional journey that Kratos and Atreus take outside of the fighting and yelling was a significant reason why we gave both God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok (2018) a perfect score of 10 out of 10.

Nathan Drake from Uncharted put up a valiant battle and finished in second place on PlayStation, with an impressive victory rate of 83.2%. In recent years, Nathan Drake has become one of PlayStation’s most-known characters, and his fame has even led to a movie adaptation of his adventures.

In terms of characters deserving of a different media, Joel Miller from The Last of Us came in third place with an 80.8% victory rate, and Ellie was not far behind in eighth place. The Last of Us, starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, will air on HBO in the first quarter of next year, and it may be a while before we get another adventure with Joel and Ellie.

Complete the top 10 with characters from Metal Gear Solid’s Solid Snake, Spider-Man/Peter Parker from Marvel’s Spider-Man, Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft, Final Fantasy VII’s Cloud Strife, Ellie from The Last of Us (as we’ve already mentioned), Ratchet and Clank’s Ratchet, and Jin Sakai from Ghost of Tsushima.

Odin Sphere’s Oswald and Gwendolyn, however, finished dead last on PlayStation. Odin Sphere and its remake, Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir, are two of our favorite games here at IGN, but we recognize that they occupy a rather small subset of the overall gaming market.

Unlike many of the characters on the list, the Mark of Kri’s Rau Utu hasn’t appeared in a new game or comic since 2005, yet he still accompanied our Odin Sphere pals. Even though she is a member of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, Fat Princess still finished behind Rau in The Getaway. Frank Carter from The Getaway came in first.

Mark Hammond from The Getaway, Delita Heiral from Final Fantasy Tactics, Syphon Filter’s Lian Xing, UmJammer Lammy’s Lammy, and Medal of Honor’s Manon Batiste rounded out the bottom 10.

Do you long to know the fate of your favorite PlayStation characters, perhaps even Aloy? (She was the 13th one) All 123 PlayStation characters who participated in the showdown are included, along with their final ranks.
