Samsung is lining up an Unpacked showcase for early July and is close to picking New York City as the stage, Korean outlets report. The headline act would be the next‑generation foldables: Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7.
Sources in Seoul say a Big Apple return is favored as the company weighs U.S. trade tensions—particularly the threat of fresh reciprocal tariffs under former president Donald Trump.
Filings show Samsung Electronics America recently contributed $350,000 to Trump’s inauguration fund, more than triple its 2016 donation.
Should the plan stick, it would be Samsung’s first New York Unpacked since 2022; the last two summer launches were held in Seoul (2023) and Paris (2024).
An industry official familiar with the timetable noted, “After spotlighting cultural capitals like Seoul and Paris, Samsung is set to come back to New York, the ultimate cultural hub, for its second‑half Unpacked.”
On the hardware side, both Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 are set to run Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite, gain slimmer frames, and, in the Flip’s case, adopt Samsung’s largest cover display yet—resembling Motorola’s Razr design.
Software will debut alongside the hardware: Android 16‑based One UI 8 is scheduled to ship first on the Z series, synchronizing Samsung’s rollout with Google’s platform release to give the foldables a head start on slab phones.
Finally, Samsung is expected to layer upgraded Galaxy AI features across the Z line, tuning them for vertical and horizontal folding modes to create tighter hardware–software synergy.
