Prestige Black: A New Look for Genesis Models
In markets outside the U.S., these models are known simply as the Black line. However, in the U.S., they will bear the name Prestige Black, offering a range of blacked-out features for the Genesis G80 and G90 sedans, along with the GV80 SUV and GV80 Coupe.
The U.S. models will also come with exclusive customization options that won’t be available elsewhere. Although specific details of these options have not yet been revealed, some of the features spotted at the Suji showroom include blacked-out exterior badges, dark-painted wheels, and ebony-colored interiors. The Black-spec G90 featured in the showroom also included charcoal open-pore natural wood inlays.
According to Jarred Pellat, Senior PR and Communications Leader at Genesis North America, “[There is an] amazing level of detail in terms of elements that have been blacked out…” Further design details include a stitching pattern on the G90’s door card, inspired by traditional fishing nets, and decorative elements reflecting Korean architectural designs.
Beyond the aesthetics, the Prestige Black trims come equipped with a variety of high-tech and comfort features to further elevate these models.
Luxury Features That Could Challenge Competitors
At the Suji showroom, another vehicle was showcased—one that American Genesis fans will unfortunately miss out on. The 2025 Genesis G90, in a long-wheelbase format, offers additional backseat space for passengers who prefer being chauffeured rather than driving themselves. Despite its reasonable price tag, this version is considered one of the best in its class.
Unfortunately, the long-wheelbase variant will not be offered in the U.S. market. These limousine-like sedans boast luxury features like foot heating and massage for rear-seat passengers, as well as a UV LED sanitizer in the armrest, automatic doors, and a high-end sound system. While the long-wheelbase model is not available, all of these features are included in the standard G90 available in the U.S.
With sales steadily increasing in recent years, Genesis is looking to expand its presence with new customization options and innovative concepts that could eventually rival the offerings of ultra-luxury brands, should they move into production.
